The first time I had the opportunity to see
a paraglider fly was when I was in France in 1988. I was taking
a French Paratrooper course as well as 120 mm Mortar conversion
training. The mortar training was in the Pyrenees mountains and
it was during that time when I seen my first Paraglider in the
air. When I saw how they launched from the hillside, I was very
impressed. Myself and a couple of paratroopers watched
these guys fly for quite a while and I had commented
that,"I'm going to do that one day".
Unfortunately
it took seventeen years later to complete this dream of flight,
but now that I'm retired from the military I knew that I would
have the time to enjoy this sport.
When I
decided to conduct paraglider training, the closest school was
in Nova Scotia. The only problem that I had was with the
area that I lived, there was not ample areas for free flight
launches. I went on the internet and had done some
research and that's when I discovered Powered Paragliding. Well,
that was the answer for me. I can take off from level ground and
soar to whatever altitude that I wanted to fly. The
freedom of PPG flight was everything that I hoped for and more,
it's the kind of sport that the more you fly, the more you want
to fly.
After most
flights, I had many people inquiring about this amazing
aircraft and where can you conduct PPG training. Unfortunately,
the closest school to my location was in Quebec and quite a few
people had commented that it would be nice to have a
training school a little closer. I knew that if there was a PPG
school in the area, they would be busy.
For
Myself, I had to travel to Niagra Region in Ontario for my
training. Because of my retirement, I had ample time to fly and
I flew at every opportunity. It wasn't long before
I had the hours required to take a PPG instructors course.
I had taken the Instructor course in Ontario and had
learned how to teach PPG by Andre Zeaman of Powered Paragliding
Ontario. Andre has been teaching PPG for several years and
passed on his knowledge to me about teaching and operating a PPG
school.
On
completion of the course, I wasted no time and had PPGNB
registered and running . My military background had helped me
greatly in teaching this sport. I've been teaching basic
to advanced gunnery for 24 years and I had applied this
knowledge of instruction when teaching PPG
students.
I had the
opportunity to train several new pilots and you can read the
student testimonials of
my first students trained. I can tell you that PPGNB
is all about safety, good instruction and professional training.
The aircraft is unbelievably safe and easy to fly with proper
instruction. Come Fly with us, you won't regret it.
I will promise you that you will have one of best experiences
that you've ever done in your life. Frank.
