RIMOUSKI FLY IN 2005

Powered Paragliding, Paramotoring, PPG - news

Busy day at the flying field

A few local PPG pilots had shown up at the field to get some flying in.

Mark Dean (Left) trying out a walkerjet airwolf along with a Fides 28 Sky Paraglider. He had commented on the impressive thrust of the paramotor and the very good flight characteristics of the paraglider. (Center) George Budaker enjoying the clean air of  late evening flights. (Right) George after landing. Yes, it was getting dark when the flying was done.

Glen Fly's

Glen and I had met at this training field early this morning (0700Hrs). There was very light winds and we went over launching techniques in low wind conditions. His first launch was assistted and successful, Glen had flown for approx 20 mins. After landing, Glen had a small break and was back in the air unassisted  for another 45 min flight. Needless to say , Glen was very happy with the refresher training and we should be seeing more of Glen in the air in the future. Good work Glen.

Glen gets refresher training:

Glen Boyd is already a qualified PPG pilot, however he has not flown since Oct 04. He had requested refresher training and we started right at it today. We had started with Kiting drills, and with some tutoring, Glen was kiting well with confidence. We had then practiced launch technique with the paramotor on Glen's back with no paraglider attached. The aim of this drill was to add a gradual amount of power while keeping the thrust and direction under control. Glen at first was a little timid with the throttle, however after a few practice launches he was doing well . I  was very happy with his Glen's progress and he showed confidence in his ability to get back in the air. We waited for the weather to improve but unfortunately the winds had picked up. Glen did not fly today, however is on standby for the first weather break to re-live his dream.

30 Aug/05  ATLANTIC BALLOON FESTIVAL SUSSEX N.B  (9-11 Sept/05)

Myself and a couple of  local PPG pilots will be at the event. I'll be contacting the event organizer to see if we can fly our PPG's there. Last year there were some pilots there, however the grass was wet and made for uneventful launches. We'll lay tarps out this year and we'll be in the air, that is if weather permits. Here are a few pics of the Balloon event:

Hopefully, you'll see a few PPG's in the air. See ya there.

Aug 28/05

Myself and Johanne had arrived home today, after a long journey. The time spent with

Andre and Mark was excellent. I had the opportunity to spend time training students as well as getting in some flying time around Niagra Falls and the coast of Lake Erie. My Web site requires updating, as you probably have noticed. I'll be updating it at every opportunity as well as keeping you current with  Walkerjet/Sky paragliders equipment updates. I'm hoping to commence courses for  PPG training in Oct/05. There is still exams to write and last minute details to sort out. I'll keep you posted, Frank.

Aug 19/05     Frank is here to become instructor.

I'm back, this time to get my instructor rating. My wife and I have arrived early and are currently living in our motor home on Sodom Field. In the past 6 months I've had plenty of opportunity to fly and have currently logged in over 60 hrs flight, this is mainly due to my retirement from the Canadian Forces and a lot of time to fly. I'm looking forward to working with Andre and learning the instructional techniques along with the  business end of starting a PPG School in New Brunswick. In the next couple of days, I'll be assisting Andre with training students.
