May 11/07 - Mike A gets fully licensed!! - Mike A from
PEI had passed his Ultra Light written Exam to become a fully Licensed PPG
pilot. Congrats Mike!!

May 10/07 -Day 6 Ed complete's his course - The weather had
co-operated this evening giving up several hours of flight time. Ed was very
excited to get back into the air to finish off his remaining training
flights. Ed did very well and by the end was his skill was progressing on
his take-offs and landings. Also Ed E a student from last year had flown in to
visit. The two Eds shook hands and training was continued. Great work Ed!!

May 10/07 - Day 6 Claude complete's his course/Ed starts to Fly!!
- Claude had finished off his remaining flights this
morning. Ed had flown two successful trike flights and hopefully we'll get
some more better weather to finish off Ed's course either tonight or later on in
the week. Great work guys, on a hard week of training!!
May 09/07 -Day 5 Claude's dream achieved!! - Claude and
Ed were up at first light ready to take to the skies. The winds were very light
which mad it difficult for their first launch. Claude was up first, and after
several launch attempts he made it in the air. Claude had flown 4 flights this
morning and his last flight was unassisted. Ed had attempted several
launches but was having difficulty with the running distance required with low
wind launches. I had mentioned to Ed about using a trike and he was very
interested in trying it out. We conducted a few lesson in Trike conversion
training and Ed will be ready for launch tonight if the weather co-operates.(Few

May 07/07 - Day 4 - This morning the students had a steady wind
of 10-15 Khms, in which gave them chance to perfect their reverse launch
technique. They kited for several hours and have now reached the level of
knowledge to take their first flight. The winds had picked up and does not
look to promising for at least 24 hrs. Ed & Claude are very excited to get
in their first flight. All we're waiting for is mother nature to co-operate and
bring light winds to allow the students to get their first flight.
May 06/07 - Day 3 - Claude and Ed had a day off
training due to bad weather but arrived back for training early in the
afternoon. They were introduced to their gliders and had the daunting task of
learning how to control them. Today it was very challenging with variable wind
and direction speeds in which added a higher level of difficulty. After several
hours of kiting, they both had started to learn to control their gliders successfully.
During a break, I had noticed that Claude & Ed were getting quite tired so I
took the opportunity to take their gliders and motors for a test flight.
They both were very excited to see their gear flying and were eager to get back
into their Kiting skills so that they can fly also. We continued to practice
kiting until late in the evening, and their work was not finished yet!! After a
quick shower they were writing their Student Pilot Permit exam so that they can
be one more step closer to their dream!! They both were successful in their exam
and were Issued SPP's. We watched another PPG video confirming skills that
they had developed today. Tomorrow morning they'll be up at 0600 hrs in
the training field confirming more kiting skills and if all goes well and the
weather holds out they'll possibly get their first flight!!
.

May 04/07 - Day 2 - We started today's training hoping to
get in some kiting in with our Para gliders, but unfortunately the winds were
still too high for glider training. We continued on with motor training
consisting of going through the launch technique with the motor pushing the
students as they increase throttle. This exercise gives the students a feel of
the thrust and torque of the engine during launch. We then carried on with
balancing and In-flight procedures, this allows me to ensure that the motors are
adjusted properly for the students weight and also familiarizes the students on
what to expect on their first flight. By the end of the day the wind was still
strong so we watched another PPG video, watching different launch techniques
used by other PPG pilots. Good work, Claude & Ed!! (Few pics)

May 03/07 - Day one training at PPGNB - Claude and Ed had both
shown up early eager to start their PPG training. We covered theory classes in
the morning and I was hoping to start glider training in the afternoon, but
mother nature had a change of plans giving us gusty and high winds. To conduct
concurrent activity, we started paramotor training. We covered assembly
and disassembly / Pre-flight check / starting procedure / and harness adjustments
to fit to the individual pilot. After Supper we watched the Risk & Reward
video, and had confirmed a good part of training that was conducted
earlier. Tomorrow looks like similar weather until later on in the
evening. We still have plenty of paramotor training remaining to include
balancing and In-flight procedures. Hopefully the winds will decrease so that we
can get in some glider training. Few pics

April 30/07 - Test flight Tandem wing - I used my favorite test
pilot this morning to test out my tandem Glider (My Wife in training!!) . The short flight
was great but it was a liitle misty and wet up there, as you can tell by
Johanne's hair style.

April 30/07 - New Training tool for PPGNB - We had
just recently purchased a Fly Products ECO 4 trike
to conduct Student Tandem
training flights. This trike, has a four stroke engine modified for aircraft use
by Flanders in Belgium. It is ideal for training flights where the students are
close to the main pilot, but they sit lower not to obscure the instructors view.
The four stroke engine is extremely smooth and quiet and is a pleasure to fly.
The trike supports a foot throttle and front brake in which does take some
getting used to, but overall I'm pleased with the overall performance. (Few pics)
