 25 Sep/05 Early Morning Flight

This morning I arrived at the field at 0700 Hrs. The weather forecast dictated, that winds were going up to 15-20 Khms  later on in the morning. This means in this area, that if you want to fly, you have to be ready  to launch at first light. The winds were light and variable and frequently had been changing directions. Because of the dew and frost, the ground was wet. To alleviate this problem ,I lay out tarps to place the glider on so that it helps to keep the glider dry.  After some patience, and waiting for the correct wind direction, I was off. The winds above 800 ft were turbulent, so I stayed fairly low 650 ft and completed a small XC. After the XC, I flew around the field  until Roger Harris had shown up. I had just purchased some new training radios and with Roger there, it gave me a chance to try them out. I launched again to test out the radios, they worked great, the communications was very clear. After doing a couple of low flyby's for some local onlookers I had landed. Roger Harris is currently taking his training and will be receiving his new WJ XC next week. Needless to say, Roger is quite excited about getting in the air. We had completed some training this morning, but the winds had picked up to gusts to 30Khm. We had waited and hoped for the winds to lighten up, however the winds did not co-operate so we decided to wait until this evening. Hopefully the winds will come down. Here is a pic from this morning.

17 Sep/05  403 Squadron Display

403 Squadron had a family day in which small businesses were encouraged to have a display. My wife Johanne knew that this would be a great opportunity to promote PPG. Needless to say there was plenty of interest from Squadron members.

15 Sep/05  Birthday Gift:

Mark Dean and his wife Carolyn had given me a great birthday gift. Of course my wife claimed it, so I'll be off tomorrow to get another one made. Thanks, Mark & Carolyn.

11 Sep/05   Sussex Balloon Festival

Myself, Mark Dean, George Budaker and John Cameron has shown up to fly PPG's at the Balloon festival. Unfortunately, we could not get a hold of the festival organizers in time to be part of the event with the balloons. We could, however fly outside the city limits and meet the balloons as they fly outside town.  The weather was pretty good and we flew a couple of good flights. We did not want to fly too close to the Balloons because we did not want to ruin it for next year. We had set up our equipment just outside the event and there was plenty of questions and interest. Here are some pics from the event:
