17 Jun 09 - Kobus's
last flight at PPGNB - This morning Kobus had flown his last flight in
Sussex. He's at a very good level of knowledge and
is capable of flying without
direct supervision from myself. His girlfriend Marcelle was very interested in
his training and had asked for a Tandem flight. I took her for an introductory
flight and she loved it!! Who know's, we might have a flying couple in the
future. Kobus and Marcelle will be starting their return trip back to Quebec
today and next month he'll be flying in Dubai (UAE) as well as South
Africa.

Just after Landing - Big
Smiles!!
Kobus - Final flight in Sussex!!
16 Jun 09 - Kobus
carries on flying!! - Kobus flew several flight last evening and this
morning. Although very physically tired of all the previous foot launch flight's
he's doing very well and is at the level where he does not require any input
from me to safely launch, fly and land on his feet.
Tomorrow we're looking
at a XC flight together.

14 Jun 09 - Kobus
keeps on flying!! - We were not planning to fly this morning due to forecasted
rain for today. However, Mother Nature
had surprised us and when we woke the
ground was dry. It was overcast but definitely flyable. I called Kobus and he
quickly arrived ready to go.
He flew 5 flight's this morning!!

14 Jun 09 - Kobus
flies again this morning! - Kobus flew a few more
flights this morning. The calm conditions made it really challenging
for take-offs but Kobus did very well. We reviewed the flight videos for
points to improve and he's looking forward to the next flying session.

13 Jun 09 - Paul
completes his qualification flights!! - Congratulation
Paul on completion of your last qualification flight's.

13 Jun 09 -
Another student flies his first flight!! - Today we
finished in-flight drills and once completed Kobus wrote his student pilot
permit exam. He was successful and was issued his SPP. We waited
until late on this evening for light winds and Kobus did get a chance to fly his
first flight. Unfortunately right after his flight the winds had picked up and
his flying will be delayed until tomorrow morning. Good work Kobus!!

11 Jun 09 - Paul
is close to completing his qualfication flight's - Paul flew 3
more flight's this evening. Paul only has two flight's remaining to get in his
30 Take-off and landing's to qualify to write his final Ultra-Light permit
license. Paul flies with the Weyman Wingnuts. These guy's fly often!!
Thank's Bob for the pics

11 Jun 09 -
Kobus's 1st day of training - Kobus is a long way from his
native home of South Africa. He started his PPG foot launch training today in
which we covered the theory classes followed by Paramotor ground training. This
training detailed Assembly/ Disassembly/ Pre-Flight/ Fueling / starting and
simulated take off procedure . In the afternoon we had Kobus in the
In-flight trainer in which we adjusted the paramotor for comfort and to ensure a
correct thrust line. Then we completed several hour's in the field going over
paraglider training in which Kobus had learned the forward launch technique.
Today was a good full day of training and Kobus did exceptionally well. Tomorrow
we'll be covering In-flight and getting Kobus ready to write his student Pilot
exam. Few pics of today's training
Big toy's for Big Boy's!!
9 Jun 09 - Paul
flew on his Birthday - Paul flew several flight's this
evening for the first time at Weyman Field on his 50th Birthday. He flew
with Dave & Bob and is now an new member of the Weyman Wingnuts from
Fredericton. Here are a few pics from Bob.

9 Jun 09 -
Morning XC Flight with Kevin - Last night Jo and I
drove to Knightville and Cornhill Nursery in Kings County to check out
more opportunities to fly Cross Country. The scenic view on the ground so
breathtaking with wide open valley of farmland. Now I can see why the
Hot Air Balloons travel
this area. Kevin dropped in this morning and off we went. I decided to fly
my 21 Pluto glider so I would not be too fast
for Kev, however he still had a
hard time keeping up so he stayed around the Sussex area. I flew to Knightville
to where the famous Giermind Restaurant is located. We haven't eaten there as of
yet but we hear it's really good German food!! Great flight!!

6 Jun 09 -
Morning XC Flight with Ed - This morning it was a
little overcast but the winds were light. Ed showed up around 07:15 and after
a quick set-up we were off for an XC to
Belleisle Bay area. The air was
exceptionally smooth. I flew the Greeneagle and at (2780 RPM) cruise speed
it was a nice quiet smooth flight. The flight lasted about an hour and we
covered approx 52 kms. Ed and I enjoyed the flight very much!!

4 Jun 09 -
Another Weyman Wingnut Trike Pilot - The pilots from
the Fredericton, NB area will be happy to have another pilot flying at Weyman's
Field. Paul flew 12 trike flights this morning. He'll soon be ready to
join the Fredericton team!!

3 Jun 09 - Paul
continues with Trike Training - This evening when the
winds dropped we had a chance to practice inflations with the glider
in the
training field. Paul is ready to take his first trike flight.
Hopefully tomorrow morning the weather will be good to fly!!
3 Jun 09 - Paul
continues with Trike Training - Paul has converted to
trike training to complete his paramotor course. We practiced mock
up trike
inflations as well as going through the launch technique with the trike on the
ground. The wind was a little high this morning for glider practice so
we're going to wait until this evening to continue training. There may be
a chance if the weather co-operates that Paul may get his
first trike
flight today.
3 Jun 09 -
BlackHawk Package Deal Arrives at PPGNB! - Our first
BlackHawk paramotor package has arrived. This unit was ordered for
a new student that
start's his training next week. This unit is upgraded to the Rhino cage
with the MZ34 motor. With the current US/Canadian
dollar exchange rate, this package deal is
unbelievable.
27 May 09 - Paul
flies - The winds were very calm this morning at the field.
I knew with no winds Paul would have to run for his life to get enough
lift for
his flight. The first attempt Paul had a good inflation and he ran as quick as
he could buy unfortunately he had to abort due to reaching the
end of the
training field. We waited for a while and later on the wind had picked up
slightly. He still had to run hard but was successful in getting
in a
flight. Unfortunately for Paul he had aggravated his groin muscle and that was it for
training today. When Paul departed the conditions were
still very good so I took the Greeneagle out for a flight.
The winds were variable
and when I set up I was initially into the wind. By the time I was ready to
launch it had changed 360 degrees. This gave
me a good window to see how
well the GE would take off in a downwind take-off. I used 3/4 throttle and
surprisingly the sting came up quickly
and not long after I was in the
air. It only took me half the field to get into the air with 3/4 throttle.
I was
impressed!!
I went for a nice XC
flight, set the cruise control listened the the hum of the quiet 4 stoke and
enjoyed the view!! After returning from a 45 minutes
flight I looked at the
fuel tank and it looked like I hadn't used any fuel!!

25 May 09 -
Greeneagle flight - I was again quite surprised at the
weather this morning. It was forecasted with moderate winds and I
cancelled training however it turned out to be very light winds. Unfortunately
it was too late to recall my student (Paul) so I took the Greeneagle
for a
little XC run. The Greeneagle with the 4 stroke thumps along very well and
is very quiet. 4 strokes are definitely the way to fly for mid size
trikes, great fuel economy, no mixing gas/oil and next to no maintenance!!
