1 July 10
- Happy Birthday Canada!!! - This morning before Eric arrive we had a
visitor!! They landed and not long after they took off again to enjoy the morning
air. Eric had showed up with his wife Carole this morning. We quickly set up and in no
time Eric was back in the air. Eric had performed very well with no problems in his taking
offs or landings. Eric will now continue his flying back home in the Fredericton area.
Great work Eric!!
29
June 10 - More Flights for Eric - This morning we had to wait for the
frog to clear due to all the heavy rain we had yesterday. Later on in the morning
Eric had another four successful flights. He is doing very well and progressing with
each flight. Good work Eric!!
28
June 10 - Eric Flew!! - Eric had showed up early this morning and had
three successful flights. He did exceptionally well but unfortunately the rain started and
ended our morning of completing more flights. Good Work Eric!! On a special note, we
had a visitor fly by in his Hot Air Balloon over the ridge.
27
June 10 - Eric's 2nd Day - This morning Eric wrote his SPP and
passed. Then we were back out in the training field practicing kitting skills.
The wind conditions were low and variable. Due to the conditions Eric had struggled
at times but eventually caught on to forward launches. We sent him home to relax for the
rest of the day to possibly get in his first flight tomorrow morning. Good work Eric!!
26
June 10 - Eric's 1st Day - Eric and I trained most of the day
today. We covered most of all the ground training except kiting. This morning the winds
were too high for kiting so we concentrated on Paramotor training and In-flight drills.
Later on in the evening we did get a chance to do some kiting. We had a chance to practice
reverse launch drills. Eric did very well but Mother nature had brought some rain so that
ended our day of training. Tomorrow we'll complete our kiting with forward launches and
once he's proficient at them Eric will be ready to write his SPP. He should be
Flying soon!!
23 June 10 - Duane Flew this morning - Duane
had three flights this morning until he pulled his groin. Unfortunately, he will be
returning home to heal his injury. Duane will be back for further training when his
leg feels better.
22 June 10 - Hot Summer Day - It was very
difficult to fly this morning after the fog lift near ten o'clock. The hot sun, high
humidity and no wind made it very difficult to fly in these conditions. We decided
to wait until this evening to see if the conditions were better for flying. In the
evening, Ed, Jim and Gunther arrived and waited for the winds to drop. Training
continued showing Duane how to do reverse launches in higher winds. The conditions
were a little bumpy for a first flight for Duane. However, Duane did get a chance to
practice a few inflation's with his paraglider & motor. He'll have to wait until
tomorrow morning.
22 June 10 - ParaToys Price Increase -
ParaToys/BlackHawk will have a Package price increase effective 1 July 10. The price
increase will be $300.00 US
on packages and package only.
Prices on Gliders, Parts, Harnessed, Accessories etc will remain the same. If you
are considering purchasing a package at this time please keep July 1st in mind.
21
June 10 - Another Student from Nova Scotia - Duane is our second
student from Nova Scotia this year. He started his training early this morning. We covered
the Theory Classes followed by Glider Training. Duane did exceptionally well and picked up
his kiting skills quickly. After lunch we carried on with Paramotor Training until supper.
Then we completed his In-flight and emergency procedures. While waiting for the winds to
drop Duane had written his SPP Exam and was successful. Later on we went for a nice Tandem
flight in which Duane had a chance to control the glider in the air and confirm the route
in which he'll be flying solo. Last, we went over other student videos showing launches
and landings. Duane is all set to take his first flight tomorrow morning!!

June 10 - Gilles Continues Xcitor Training - This morning Gilles
flew a few more flights on the Xenit Trike while awaiting for the Xcitor wheel to arrive
from Moncton. After supper we were back in the field when Eric arrived and helped
setting up the Xcitor. Johanne gave Eric his Ultralight Manual and he is schedule
for training at the end of the month. Gilles and I flew a couple of touch & go's
with the Xcitor but the winds came up. So Gilles had a chance to practice inflations and
Taxi the Xcitor several times in the field. He did very well!!
17
June 10 - Gilles First Solo - This morning the winds were calling
5 kms so we drove to Havelock Airfield to fly before the rain arrived. Unfortunately
the winds were to strong and then it started to rain. On the way back home the
Xcitor wheel had a flat and hopefully tomorrow the parts will arrived. In the
meantime, training continued on the Xenit Trike with at least 40 touch and go's.
Later in the evening Gilles took the ECO 4 Trike and completed four solo flights.
16
June 10 - Dream it, Plan it, Live it! - This morning Gilles dreams
came true! He had a chance to fly in his Xcitor!! Due to the speed of the
Xcitor my training area is a little small to fly solo. We flew for over an hour and
we must have done at least 60 touch & go's. Each time I had Gilles hands on the
controls so that he can develop the feel for landing softly. Each attempt Gilles was
getting better until I could let go of the controls and he was taking off and landing
smoothly. Tomorrow we'll be going to Havelock Airfield where there is plenty of
realestate.
15
June 10 - Xcitor Training - Gilles started his Xcitor conversion
training this morning and we simulated take offs and landings . Later on Gilles wrote his
Student Pilot exam and was successful. Hopefully the weather will hold for some Xcitor
flights in the morning.
14
June 10 - Gilles starts Trike Training - Gilles had actually started his
training last evening. Due to the nice forecasted morning I covered the theory of Kiting
so that when we fly tandem in the morning Gilles would better understand on how to
correctly inflate the glider during take-off. As forecasted the morning weather was pretty
good and we flew tandem together to include a whole bunch of touch & go's.
Gilles had a chance to control the glider to develop the feel of flying the trike. He did
very well, afterwards we landed and Gilles had a chance to Kite the glider while I towed
him with the tractor. Then he had a chance to practice simulated take-offs with the ECO 4.
I had chosen the ECO 4 trike for Gilles due to it has a Foot throttle and foot brake
similar to the Xcitor. Once Gilles is proficient with the slower ECO 4 He'll be then
moving up to the Xcitor!! Finally we went over the videos of training this morning.
This afternoon we'll go over some theory classes.
13
June 10 - XC to Havelock Airfield!! - Jo and I have joined the Havelock
Flying Club and every Sunday they have their Fly-In Breakfast. I flew to Havelock Airfield
this morning and the conditions were great. Havelock Airfield has been operating
since the Second World War and I was officially the smallest aircraft to land at the
field!! Local pilots and pilots from out of town had plenty of questions about our sport
of PPG. The Havelock Flying Club will be having their 19 Annual Club Fly-In / Open House
the 6 to 8 August, 2010. I'll be there for the weekend and camping is available on
site. They would love to invite other PPG's to attend, come and join us if your
available.

June 10 - Jim and I flew to Belleisle Creek, NB - Jim and I took
a cross country flight early this morning to BelleiIsle Creek. The conditions were a
little bumpy coming back but overall it was a great flight!! Thanks Jim for the flight.
