RIMOUSKI FLY IN 2005           POLK CITY FLORIDA USPPA  2006

03 July 06 - Ed's training -  Ed had arrived today to get in some long awaited PPG training.  Ed had some hang gliding experience and had studied PPG manuals prior to commencing his course. It showed,  he had already a good source of PPG knowledge to include Kiting skills.  Ed will be studying his study package and should be writing his SPP (Student Pilot Permit) exam soonest.  He will then be ready to fly his first flight. Good work Ed!!

26 Jun 06 - Rejean continues training - Due to terrible weather we've been having lately, Rejean finally had a chance to  return to get more training in.  After a hard days work at the field Rejean is at the level where he ready to take his first solo flight. Few Pics

22 June 06 - Bob continues training. - Bob was at the field today and we reviewed past training. Bob practiced simulated trike launches. I was hoping to practice kiting however again, the winds were way too high today to even hook up to a paraglider. Bob did get a chance to write his pre-solo exam and did very well. Bob was issued his SPP and hopefully with better weather he'll get a chance to fly soon. Few Pics

15 June 06 - Bob Starts Trike training - Unfortunately, the weather had been terrible in the last two weeks and there was no flying for any student nor myself.  I have several anxious students that are waiting for good weather to finish off their course. Fortunately, today was fairly decent to conduct ground training and I'm hoping that the weather will drastically improve so that I can complete past students as well as Bob's course in the near future. Few pics.

07 June 06 - Continuation of training - Rejean and Michel had a good day of training today. We met at the training field after lunch and started Paraglider training. The brothers found out quickly that it takes work to kite a paraglider around the field.  It took a while at first, but after a few hours they picked up the technique and were controlling the paragliders with ease. I decided that considering they were brothers,  I would set up a race!!  I had them set up at one end of the field and race to the other end, first one to pass the windsock wins!!  Here were the results!

06 June 06 - Brothers start training- Rejean and Michel had started training yesterday. To date they have most of their training completed. Hopefully with good weather and a few more hours of training they'll both fulfill their dream of flight. (Few Pics)

31 May 06 - Update - I have been getting plenty of flying in the last few days as well as we just purchased a videocam to add videos to our site.  As well PPGNB was visited by Transport Canada to ensure our training and facilities were up to standard. Dave Wall the TC inspector was very impressed by the training layout ,schedule and training field at PPGNB.   I received an E-Mail from Darren on his first flight experience on his own back home. Here's his E-Mail

Hey Frank, >> >> Good news. I finally got my registration C-IGNB and after a few phone >> calls to Dave Wall and Bob Lavers, I did not have to write the ultra exam >> because of my commercial status. Yee haw.. They had nothing but praise >> for you and your set up for PPG training. They were highly impressed >> with >> your field and professionalism during their visit. >> >> So I couldn't wait any longer. I went for my first flight tonight over >> an >> industrial part of the city. Nice field on the edge of the city. Lots >> of >> big roofs to land on if need be. >> >> Winds were 10-15 Km Got set up. Yes I did a reverse and it went great. >> about 10 steps I was in the air and flying baby. >> A little bouncy in spots but overall a fun ride. Up about 1000ft. Flew >> around the area for about 30-45 mins. Finished the flight with an awsome >> light touch landing if I do say so myself. Everything went well.....even >> the visit I had from the POLICE. Apparently someone called about a >> parachute going down. Everything I did was legal but I did spend 15 min >> talking to him and his partner about PPG. They thought it would be great >> for the job. >> >> Home safe & sound. Going to Calgary on Sat. for two weeks. >> >> Talk to you later. >> Darren >

18 May 06 - Darren's Testimonial

Dear Frank & Johanne,

I just want to thank you both again for your hospitality and kindness while I was training with you.  It was a fun & challenging and rewarding experience.

I heard about it.....I read about it......I watched videos about it.......I talked to people about it.......I dreamed about it...alot...Then I did it ...... I made my dream come true.  They say you only get out of life what you put into it.  Well, I wanted to fly.  I flew fixed wing airplanes..that got too expensive.   I tried to build an airplane...that got too frustrating and took too long.   Then I discovered powered paragliding.  It was cheap, safe, portable, and easy to learn.  I did some research and found Frank Savignac of PPGNB.  I called him and he answered all my questions and concerns.  I made the decision to train and become a PPG pilot......  What a blast and what a great experience.

Frank, and his wife, Johanne, are such quality people.  Pleasant, professional and down to earth. The training I received was top quality.  Very well presented with a common sense approach.  He will teach to your level with patience and enthusiasm.  His knowledge base is extensive and interesting.  The Walkerjet Product line was very reliable and , from what I've read, on the leading edge of paramotor technology.  Safety was definitely a priority with Frank's teaching. If your ready to live your dream, powered paragliding with PPGNB and Frank Savignac is the way to go.

16 May 06 - Darren Fly's -   Darren and I were at the flying field at first light this morning. After a quick demo flight Darren was off on his first assisted flight.  Darren had picked up the technique as if he was an experienced PPG pilot. His next two flights were assisted and Darren had flawless launches. The qualification to pass the course is 10 unassisted flights. Darren wanted to attempt the 10 flights to finish the course today. Darren had flown 10 unassisted take-offs and landings in a row without a break.  Darren has successfully passed the course in  less than TWO days of training. Outstanding work!!Darren.

15 May 06 - Darren arrives! - Darren's training went very well today and he had completed all his training up to getting in his first flight. Unfortunately, the weather had put Darren's dream of flight on hold until tomorrow morning.

13 May 06 - Mike A starts training  - Mike A had started his training early this morning. Because of high winds, we completed the regular theory classes followed by paramotor and in-flight training. The winds during the day went from bad to worse and it looked like even with the paraglider trainer the winds were too high. We waited until later in the evening to go to the flying field to get kiting classes in. Fortunately the winds did drop later on and Mike had the opportunity to try out his paraglider. Mike had picked up the kiting technique very quickly and was launching the glider with ease. We came back to the house and Mike had written and passed his pre-solo exam. Mike is ready to fly!! Mike will be heading back home early tomorrow, however he'll be practicing and reviewing everything learned to date and will be back soon to fly!! Great work Mike!!

8 May 06 - XC Millville - Mark and I both had business in the Millville area and thought it would be a great area for a XC. Well it was!! The scenery was great and unfortunately I had forgotten my camera to get some pics of Mark in flight.  Luckily Mark had his camera and was able to take a few shots. Thanks Mark for the pics.

4 May 06 - Evening Flight -  Lately, the evenings are giving up great flying weather. Nice & Warm!! Few Pics

4 May 06 - Mike goes Trike!! - Mike came down yesterday to start trike training. Because of Mike's foot launch experience trike training was easy!!. Mike had a great flight this morning. Good work Mike.
