11 Oct 10 - Martha's Vineyard First Annual Invitational
Fly-In - We are very lucky to have friends in high places!!
Martha's Vineyard was more than a treat!! Marty from Florida had invited myself and Jo to
visit his family cottage on the Island of Martha's Vineyard. Marty and his parents
had given us the grand tour of the island to include the history. Wow, what a
beautiful place and the food on the island was outstanding. Stanley from Connecticut
was here several days prior to us but the winds were strong and unfortunately too high for
PPG flying.
Fortunately
not long after our arrival, the winds came down and allowed myself and Marty to enjoy the
air and sights of the beautiful Island. We flew from Menemsha to the Gay head Light
House. After we landed a few local Islanders had stated that the last time they had
seen an aircraft like a PPG, it was John F Kennedy Jr flying the coast line. I was talking
to Eric Dufour and he had mentioned that John Jr used to fly a PPC. Johanne did get a
chance to fly the island on the "Flying Horses" which the oldest Carousel in the
United States. All I can say is we had an excellent time!!
Thanks Marty
and family!! Here's the link to te accommodations where we stayed during our visit
on the island of Martha's Vineyard at Oak Bluffs, Check it out!! http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p237295
