This was our 1st Challenger
Winter Rendezvous here at Montebello, Quebec. It is the most popular winter aviation
happening in Canada on the Ottawa River and the experience of a mid winter escape was
worth it. Johanne and I traveled by train from Moncton, New Brunswick to Montreal a
17 hour ride. The trip was long but enjoyable. At the event, there were all different
types of aircraft from a vintage Tigermoth to of course many Challengers. Gilbert, Yves
and their friend from Quebec flew their PPG's at the event. The crowd were very impressed
with the PPG's of their low & slow flight. There were many lectures on
Ultralight rules, aircraft and engines(Rotax) in which were very informative. I
finally had a chance to meet and talk to Kathy Lubitz (UPAC) President and other
people that I've contacted by phone but have never met.
Of course I should mention the Chateau, it was
a very nice place!! We had a great time hanging out by the fire place and enjoying the
spectacular view. Overall, Johanne and I had a great time and looking forward to
next year. A Special Thanks to Bryan Quickmire from Challenger.ca for his knowledge
and experience. Joan and Claude Roy from Ottawa for their organization of the event
and making everyone feel welcome. Helene and Pierre Brisson owner of Ultralight
Solutions in Smith Falls, Ontario making our winter escape a great time. |
